I fail and I fail often. And as a child of God I wish this were not so. Because I have the Holy Spirit living within me I have the desire and the drive to be perfect and complete in Christ Jesus, lacking nothing. But I am not there yet, no matter how much I might want it.
To live and to walk in this life and on this earth is to be surrounded by that which is fallen. We are fallen and because we are fallen all of creation suffers with us. War, poverty, famine, sickness, greed, and ultimately death itself can be attributed to our fallen state. Every pain and every affliction is the price we pay for our sin and rebellion against a holy and perfect God.
But there is a solution. And I am so glad that God did not leave us in our wretched state but instead chose to redeem us by the blood of Jesus Christ and His sacrificial death on the cross of Calvary. Through that one act I now have hope of life eternal and of perfect completion. One day I will see my Creator face to face but until that time comes I want to walk in such a way that gets me closer and closer to him and points others to Jesus.
Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 1 Corinthians 13:8-11 (NASB)
All of us who are redeemed are heading towards perfect. God has promised it and so it must be. So hold on, child of God. Be strengthened and renewed through the power of his Holy Spirit. Look forward to the time of completion for your reward is coming soon.
